Bentley Verbally Commits To Gamecocks

By Sports Department - Tim Hill

One future Gamecock will have a unique insight into what the Carolina coaching staff is thinking.  Jake Bentley, son of USC running backs coach and longtime Byrnes high school coach Bobby Bentley, verbally committed to Carolina football Thursday.  ESPN rates Bentley as the #2 QB prospect in the country for the class of 2017.

Bobby Bentley was on the staff with Will Muschamp at Auburn before getting the USC job this offseason.  That means Jake played for Opelika High School in Alabama last year and is currently undecided on where he will play his senior season of high school football.  Bentley is scheduled to graduate high school early and enroll at USC in the 2017 spring semester.

Bentley made his announcement on social media Thursday.  “I have decided that I am coming back home and committing to the University of South Carolina.  I am ready to be a part of the New Era of Gamecock Football!  #SpursUp”
