Spurrier On Clemson: Try To Limit Their Possessions

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) — Clemson’s offense has had a record-setting season. Last week against NC State, the Tigers set the single season scoring record. So far through 11 games, Clemson has 491 points and 63 touchdowns. Steve Spurrier knows this Clemson squad is better than last year’s. “We know it’s going to be difficult,” said Spurrier. “Our guys are looking forward to the challenge.” The Head Ball Coach also said the Gamecocks will have to limit the number of possessions Clemson gets. “If you go out there and throw every down, the way some of their opponents have, then they’re going to get a whole bunch of possessions and an opportunity to score a bunch,” said Spurrier. “We know we gotta throw, I mean, we’re not good enough to run the ball up and down the field. We gotta throw, run, mix it up, and just play well.” Kickoff for Saturday’s USC and Clemson game in Death Valley is set for just after 7pm Saturday. The matchup will air on ESPN.
