Columbia Urban League’s annual Christmas food baskets giveaway starts today

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) – The Columbia Urban League is giving back to senior citizens in need through a special food giveaway today!

The Christmas food baskets giveaway starts at 11 a.m. at W. A. Perry Middle School at 2600 Barhamville Road.

Curtis spoke with the non-profit’s President & CEO James T. McLawhorn Jr. & Cardinal Newman High School Principal Kelly Burke about how elderly families can enjoy plenty of delicious food like chicken, collard greens, fresh fruit and so much more.

It’s part of its’ annual Beatrice McKnight Christmas Giving Project that helps give families a feast to celebrate the holidays.

The non-profit says this year, it will provide 400 nutritional food baskets to underserved elderly families along with 250 holiday snack backpacks to disadvantaged youth.
