COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– For a second straight year highway fatalities in the Palmetto state have gone down.

924 people died on South Carolina roadways compared to almost 11 hundred this time last year and 12 hundred in 2021.

This year law enforcement will increase presence during the holiday season focusing on high crash areas.

Recently the Department of Public Safety and other state agencies launched their ‘Highways or Dieways’ campaign hoping to educate the public about staying safe while driving.
