Fallen SC Firefighters To Be Honored
COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) — Firefighters control and put out fires, often risking their own lives to save others.
The South Carolina State Association of Fire Chiefs, and other members of the state’s fire service, will honor four fallen firefighters on April 6.
The ceremony will begin at 11 a.m. at the S.C. Fallen Firefighters Memorial, housed on the grounds of the S.C. Fire Academy, 141 Monticello Trail in Columbia.

Firefighter Michael L. Broz, 58, died in 2013 as a result of a car accident while responding to a call.
The other three firefighters died in 2015 while also serving their communities. The four line of duty deaths include:
- Kenneth M. Stanton, Sr., 52, Sandy Springs Fire Department, Anderson County
- Tyron Weston, 51, Columbia Fire Department, Richland County
- Stuart G. Hardy, 31, Burton Fire District, Beaufort County
