Suspect Sought in Alleged Theft of $2K Worth of Clothing

RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO) — Deputies with the Richland County Sheriff’s Department are looking for a man suspected of stealing thousands of dollars worth of merchandise over the course of several days.

Police say 48-year-old Michael Purnell is wanted for shoplifting men’s wear from the Burlington Coat Factory located at 7201 Two Notch Road.

Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott said the last known incident captured on surveillance video occurred on Tuesday, March 29, when Purnell went to the business and stole six children’s shirts and five pants.
