COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– State Health officials are hoping tobacco users quit for good in 2024.

The Department of Health and Environmental Control is reminding folks that they offer a tobacco quit line at 1-800-QUIT-NOW.

Officials say quit coaches are available 24/7 to assist with free support.

Tobacco use is directly related to many serious illnesses, including lung diseases, type 2 diabetes, various cancers and heart disease, say officials.

Finding healthy strategies to deal with the stress of the holidays that don’t include tobacco products is important,” says Virginie Daguise, DHEC’s Director of the Bureau of Chronic Disease and Injury Prevention.
