Virtual advent calendar offering Charleston deals

CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) — The Charleston Convention and Visitors Bureau is teaming up with local businesses in offering visitors some early holiday presents. Beginning Saturday, the virtual Christmas in Charleston advent calendar goes live at www.christmasincharleston.com. Each day leading up to Christmas, the calendar will reveal special deals for shoppers and diners – most of them discounts on merchandise or free food with a food order. During December, shoppers can find deals ranging from a free cup of she crab soup at a restaurant to discounts on clothing and joggling boards and free peanuts and biscuits with food orders to stores. The site also includes a list of Charleston holiday events and deals on lodging packages. Each year, about 4 million tourists visit Charleston. Copyright (c) 2012 by The Associated Press.
