RCSD Offers “Internet Exchange Safety Zones”

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) — The Richland County Sheriff’s Department now offers exchange safety zones for citizens who sell, purchase, and  exchange items via social media.

Sheriff Leon Lott says the public exchange zones will also serve as a place for those who are co-parenting to meet for child drop-off and pick-up.

The “Internet Exchange Safety Zone” signs are located in the parking lots of the following locations:

RCSD Main Headquarters — 5623 Two Notch Road Columbia, SC 29223

Region 1 Headquarters — 2615 Lower Richland Boulevard Hopkins, SC 29061

Region 3 Headquarters — 6429 Bishop Avenue Columbia, SC 29203

Region 4 Headquarters — 1019 Beatty Road Columbia, SC 29210

Region 6 Headquarters — 118 McNulty Street Blythewood, SC 29016

The Sheriff encourages those who sell and purchase items using Craigslist or any other internet source, as well as other reasons for meeting, to designate the meet location at one of the Richland County Sheriff’s Department regions where there is a safe zone.
