Weekend Family Fun in Lexington County

Kid's Day

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) — It’s all about your little ones in Lexington.

Saturday is Kid’s Day of Lexington.

The family fun event is all about educating families about health, safety and environmental issues.    Free food and drink will be available.

Kid’s Day of Lexington Offers:

  • Jump houses and stage entertainment
  • Student’s class work & educational showcase
  • Summer program information
  • Car seat checks
  • Lexington County Library Book Mobile
  • Fire safety tips
  • South Carolina Department of Natural Resources
  • Environmental and recycling Information
  • Patriotic salute

It’s taking place at the Town of Lexington Municipal Complex and Virginia Hylton Park from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.

Chief Terrence Green says there will be a road closure and possible traffic delays due to the event.   Maiden Lane will be closed starting at 6 a.m.   It will reopen at approximately 4 p.m.

There may be also be some traffic delays in the area of South Lake Drive and Maiden Lane as attendees of the event cross back and forth across the street from the parking lots.

Officers will be assisting in directing and stopping traffic to ensure the safety of those in the crosswalk at South Lake Drive near Maiden Lane.

It is advised that attendees arrive early to find a parking space and to only park in designated parking areas.  Parking areas include the Lexington County Courthouse and Lexington County Administration Building on South Lake Drive.  Those who choose to park in private business parking lots can be towed at the owner’s expense.

In the past, Kid’s Day of Lexington has attracted more than 20,000 attendees.
