Lawmakers could tackle background checks for guns during summer session
COLUMBIA, SC (AP) (WOLO)–A move out of the State House to discuss background checks for gun sales could come this Summer.
The Senate’s judiciary chairman is pledging to hold a hearing this summer on legislation extending the allowed time for background checks on gun sales.
Senator Larry Martin’s promise to hold the hearing this summer, followed a rally outside the Statehouse against gun violence.
At the rally, more than 100 people called on lawmakers to pass laws that would prevent criminals from getting guns.
