Haley’s legislative report cards incomplete

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — Those report cards that South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley promised to use to grade legislators get an incomplete score for now.

Haley spokesman Rob Godfrey said Thursday it is premature to discuss the report cards and they won’t be released until the fall.

Haley said in March the report cards are a way of keeping legislators accountable for supporting her agenda.

The South Carolina Business & Industry Political Education Committee has been scoring legislators’ work on business-related legislation since 1985. The non-partisan group this week released its 2011 report card, and said Thursday it spends more than 1,000 hours putting together its research.

Meanwhile, the Conservation Voters of South Carolina says it produces a report card every two years. For the first time, it plans to score the governor.
