Investigators look for suspect in triple stabbing and fire

herbert oreeCOLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) – Columbia Police investigators are looking for a man, who they say stabbed three people and set fire to part of a house early Sunday morning.

Authorities said Herbert Oree, 19, is wanted for three counts of attempted murder, third degree arson, first degree burglary and possession of a knife during the commission of a violent crime.

CPD said that Oree’s arrest warrants have been entered into the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) database. Oree is considered armed and dangerous.

Oree allegedly broke into a Bailey Street home shortly after 3 a.m. Sunday, stabbed three people (two males and a female) and setting fire to part of the home’s interior. The flames were quickly extinguished and did not spread to the remainder of the house. The victims were stabbed in the upper and lower bodies. They were taken to a local hospital for treatment. At last check, one of the victims remained in the hospital.

While investigators continue to determine a motive, they believe the incident was isolated and that the victims are familiar with Oree.
