One person killed in head-on collision in West Columbia

WEST COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) – The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating a deadly collision that happened Sunday afternoon on Gardners Terrace Road in West Columbia.

Officials said the driver of a car that veered into oncoming traffic was killed; the driver was not wearing his or her seat belt. A passenger, who was wearing her seat belt, is expected to be okay. Two people in the other car that was hit are okay. They were both wearing their seat belts.

We’re awaiting word from the Lexington County Coroner on the identity of the victim.
