USC Hoops Lands Villanova Transfer

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) — Sophomore Villanova guard Tyrone Johnson said Wednesday he is transferring to play for Frank Martin at South Carolina. Johnson, a prep school teammate of USC freshman Michael Carrera at Montrose Christian, said in a radio interview Wednesday that South Carolina had a great environment when he visited and had great people. The 6’2 point guard appeared in all 32 games as a freshman in 2011-12 at Villanova and started nine. He averaged 3.3 points and 2 assists in 17.7 minutes per game. Johnson announced his intentions to transfer before the start of the 2012-13 season. He plans to enroll at USC in January and will be eligible to play next season.
