Council Names Wilson To Take Over as Columbia City Manager

Columbia, SC (WOLO)–Columbia’s city manager is stepping down. Steve Gantt will retire in six months. At a City Council meeting Thursday afternoon city leaders announced they have offered the job to current Assistant City Manager Teresa Wilson. Wilson says she is excited about the opportunity. “It was a good opportunity for me to try to grow professionally and so I’m thankful. I mean honestly I feel humbled. I’m excited but I’m more excited about, you know, kind of getting everything, the offer in place and everything settled so i can get to work.” Steve Gantt has served as city manager since 2009 and has worked with the city since 2001.
