Summer Movie & Concert Series at Finlay Park

summerconcertfinlay.jpgThe City of Columbia’s Summer Movies Series will kick off on Friday, June 3 at Finlay Park, 930 Laurel Street.

Movies will be shown on Friday nights from June 3 through July 29. The following movies are free and open to the public:

June 3: “Frozen”

June 10: “Inside Out”

  • June 17: “Muppets Most Wanted”
  • June 24: “Paddington”
  • July 1: “Minions”
  • July 8: “The Smurfs”
  • July 15: “Shaun the Sheep”
  • July 22: “The Nut Job”
  • July 29: “Star Wars: The Force Awakens”

Pre-show activities begin at 7:30 p.m. Movies will begin at sunset.

Plus, celebrate at Finlay Park during the City’s free Summer Concert Series beginning Saturday, June 4.

This year’s lineup will feature a variety of local favorites and national recording artists who will display their musical talents at the Finlay Park stage from June until August, according to the City of Columbia Parks and Recreation Department.

Performances will be held from 7 to 10 p.m. on the following

dates:

June 4 (Beach): Second Nature and Ken Knox & Company (formally Chairman of the Board)

  • June 18 (Variety): The Root Doctors
  • July 2 (R&B): Glenn Jones
  • July 16 (Jazz): Terrence Young
  • July 30 (Caribbean and Reggae): Pantasia Steel Band, Coolie G & Lion Soul
  • August 13 (Country): Bo Bice (American Idol)

The concerts are free and open to the public.

Attendees are welcome to bring blankets and lawn chairs to both series. No pets, glass or alcoholic beverages allowed. Food vendors will be available.
