Microsoft passes Apple as US’ biggest company

(CNN)– The biggest company in the U.S. lost its crown yesterday at least for a little while.

As shares of Microsoft rose in trading the house built by Bill Gates surpassed Apple in terms of valuation.

That’s because Apple lost some ground during Thursday’s session.

Microsoft has seen its stock rise 63% over the past year, largely because of its cloud computing division.

Apply also had an impressive year but only gained 39%.

Excitement over artificial intelligence also helps Microsoft more than Apple due to its large investment in open AI.
