Watch: Latest on LA Pride Suspect Arrest

Santa Monica, C.A. (WOLO) — The same day as what is now being dubbed the worst mass shooting in US history in at an LGBT nightclub in Orlando Florida, another man, thousands of miles away is arrested.

While law enforcement officials maintain the two incidents are not related, they believe they were able to thwart a possible attack at a second LGBT gathering, this time in LA.

Police have not identified the suspect, but say he was arrested just before the LA Pride Parade was set to begin in California. Santa Monica authorities say when they approached the man, he claimed he was waiting for a friend to attend the Pride Parade. Authorities say they later determined that may not have been his only reason for being there.
