Gamecocks Face SC State Before SEC Play Starts

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) — Frank Martin and the Gamecocks will play their final out-of-conference contest against SC State Saturday at Colonial Life Arena. USC will be without their second-leading scorer Lashay Page for the rest of the season because of academic eligibility issues. The Gamecocks move forward without Page starting this weekend against a 4-9 SC State squad that Coach Martin thinks isn’t given enough credit. “We live in a world where we judge everybody by their record,” said Martin. “You know? We don’t know so we look at their record and we immediately say, ‘Well that team is no good.'” Martin also says he’s been where SC State is right now – where “you feel good about your team, but your record stinks.” USC hosts the Bulldogs at 1:30pm Saturday.
