South University graduates 400 in Columbia
COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) – There are nearly 400 new college graduates in the Midlands this weekend. South University, Columbia held commencement ceremonies at the Metropolitan Convention Center Saturday.
Dr. Belle Wheelan served as commencement speaker. Wheelan is the President of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges, and is the first African American and the first woman to serve in the role.
“It is formal education that makes the difference between success and failure,” Wheelan told the graduates, “not just individually, but on society as a whole.”
South University graduates received degrees in programs that include Doctor of Pharmacy, Master of Business Administration, nursing, and clinical mental health counseling.
