Former Gamecock Pitcher Vogel Signs Contract with Rays
COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) — Former Gamecock pitcher Matthew Vogel has signed a deal with the Tampa Bay Rays organization. He announced the signing on twitter Monday afternoon.
It’s officially official, I am a part of the @RaysBaseball organization and I could not be any happier!

Vogel, a right-handed junior pitcher, was drafted in the 25th round of this year’s MLB Draft, but was just 1-0 with a 3.86 era this season at USC. His seven innings pitched this season were his fewest with the Gamecocks in his three seasons on campus.
Vogel is now the sixth former Gamecock to sign with a professional organization.
