RCSD Honors Fallen Deputy
COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) — The highlight for many on the Fourth of July comes when the sun sets and fireworks light up the sky, but some early risers are using the day as a way to honor those who serve and sacrifice for our freedom.
The Richland County Sheriff’s Department will be honoring Deputy Ryan Rawl with a Memorial Workout of the South Carolina State House grounds on Monday, July 4.
This is a family friendly event and fundraiser for the Ryan Rawl Scholarship Fund.
Rawl was killed in Afghanistan by a suicide bomber on June 20, 2012.
Sign-in will begin at 7:00 a.m. on the Sumter Street side of the Statehouse. The workout will begin at 8:00 a.m.
Registration is $25 per person and $50 per team. Participants must register by Thursday, June 30. To register, please contact Deputy Katelyn Jasak at 576-3491 or kjasak@rcsd.net.
