OCSO: Woman escaped kidnapping by ex-husband, held at gunpoint
ORANGEBURG COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– Orangeburg County Sheriff Leroy Ravenell says a 12 hour long stand-off with an armed man over the weekend ended peacefully.
Sheriff Ravenell says that around 12:15 a.m. on Sunday, Jan. 28, deputies received a call about a kidnapping.
An Orangeburg County woman told investigators she had escaped from her ex-husband after he had kidnapped her at gunpoint.
Investigators say the man then went to a Melody Lane home in Cope, where the standoff began.
Multiple weapons were found inside in the home after the standoff ended.
The 53-year-old male will face multiple felony charges.
“We’re thankful that no one was seriously hurt in this situation. There were any number of situations that could have happened out there,” the sheriff said.
