Bissell recalls 142,000 vacuum cleaners due to fire hazard
(CNN)– Bissell has recalled about 142 thousand of its multi-reach hand and floor vacuum cleaner models due to a fire hazard.
According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, the vacuum’s battery pack can overheat and smoke.
So far Bissell has received 17 reports of the vacuums smoking.
Six of those included the battery pack catching on fire. At least two minor burn injuries were reported and three incidents resulted in minor property damage.
Consumers are being asked to not throw the recalled battery in the trash.
Instead contact Bissell for instructions on how to deplete the charge on the battery to receive a free replacement.
