Firefighters honored during weekend ceremony

IRMO, S.C. (WOLO)– Remembering 118 members of the South Carolina State Firefighters’ Association who died in 2023, including two line of duty deaths.

A ceremony was held at Riverland Hills Baptist Church in Irmo this weekend.

Families, friends and fire departments gathering as their loved one was recognized by the statewide fire service.

Among those being honored was Irmo Firefighter James Muller who died in the line of duty over Memorial Day weekend last year.

Organizers say remembering the firefighters who have passed is a privilege and honor.

During the service family members and fellow firefighters were given plaques honoring their loved ones.
