Pet of the Week: Murphy!
COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO)- Meet Murphy! Murphy is part of Pawmetto Lifeline’s Home to Home program and is urgently looking for a new ‘furever’ home.
Murphy is a 7 year old lab-mix. He’s spent his entire life with his current family, but unfortunately he isn’t doing well with their toddler. Murphy’s family also survived a house fire last year, displacing them and forcing them to board or frequently place Murphy in doggy daycares while they undergo moving/construction projects. Through the trauma and all the changes, Murphy has become stressed and anxious. He’s in need of some stability once again.
Murphy would do great in a home of empty-nesters, or a family with grown kids. He’s good with other calm dogs like him. No need to train Murphy either! He is house-broken, walks great on a leash, and knows commands like sit, shake, and place. Murphy is a good boy. He enjoys sunbathing, long walks, cuddling, and running around in the backyard.
Through their Home to Home program, Pawmetto Lifeline is working to help keep pets out of the overcrowded municipal shelters, and instead keep them in a home environment through any transition. “If somebody finds a dog on the streets, or a family who is not longer able to hold on to their animal, we are encouraging people to be a part of the solution and not taking their dog and dumping them at the municipal shelter; just making sure we’re all taking part in finding these animals a wonderful home,” says Helen Cotton with Pawmetto Lifeline. “We don’t want the euthanasia rates to continue skyrocketing. We help with the medical; we help with the marketing, we help get them adopted. It’s a way we can all work as a team.”
