Bananas Bite Fish For Second Straight Night
SAVANNAH, G.A. (Blowfish) — The Fish tried to rewrite the ship in Savannah against the Bananas for their final matchup of the season but came up empty falling 8-1 at Grayson Stadium.
Savannah got things started in the third when Nick Chorby (Texas A&M) knocked in Adam Gauthier (Dartmouth) with an RBI single to give the Bananas the 1-0 lead.
After Drew Moody (Georgia) retired seven Blowfish in a row, Lexington County strung together three straight hits, including an RBI double from Clint Carr (Valdosta State) down the right field line that knotted the game back up at 1.
But Savannah continued to bludgeon the Blowfish like they have all season and plated three runs in the home half of the third, two of which game on the Garrett Nelson (Long Beach State) triple down the left field line.
The Bananas added two in the sixth and two in the eighth to push the lead up to 8-1.
Moody was quietly electric for the Bananas tonight. He struck out six Blowfish while only walking one en route to the complete game victory.
The win for Savannah pushes its win streak up to five while the Fish fall for the second consecutive night to the Bananas.
First pitch for game one at the Lex is slated for 5:05 p.m. and coverage will begin on z93.1 FM The Lake at 4:40. Game two will begin approximately 30 minutes after the completion of game one. Each game will be a seven-inning affair.
