RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– An Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center inmate has been charged with additional charges following the assault of a guard on Nov. 11, 2023, say RCSD.
Richland County Sheriff’s Department deputies say the guard was working her assigned area and repeatedly told the inmate, Jabriel Jones to return to his cell when he refused to listen and lunged at her.
Investigators say during the assault Jones was able to remove the guard’s taser and attempted to use it against her, but was unsuccessful.
Also, Jones pushed the guard causing her to hit her head on a beam and punched her in the face multiple times.
During the assault, she radioed for help and three inmates were able to help get Jones off her.
Jones was charged with assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature.
