WATCH: Columbia Non-Profit Brings Kenyan Teens to Dance at USC

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) – A group of Kenyans is dancing among students of USC’s Summer Dance Conservatory Program, thanks to the people behind a Columbia-based non-profit.

“Artists for Africa” has been funding three out of six dancers from the African country, as they study for a few weeks in Columbia. The organization supports after-school arts and academic opportunities to some of the world’s most impoverished children.

Columbia native Cooper Rust created the non-profit. For a fifth year, the group is hosting a performance to raise money for the program. Professional dancers, including Rust, have choreographed numbers from ballet to modern to jazz. The teens will also be performing.

Tickets are available for $35. The concert is tonight at 6:30 p.m. at the Scottish Rite Center of Columbia at 7230 Garners Ferry Rd.
