Coroner ID’s person who died after early morning collision

SUMTER COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– Coroner Robbie Baker has identified the person who died after a collision in Sumter County, said the coroner’s office.

The collision happened at the intersection of S Lafayette Drive and Manning Road in Sumter County on Feb. 16, around 2 a.m.

Eric Hazzard, 45, of Sumter, was driving a 2020 Honda that hit a light pole at a high rate of speed causing him to become heavily entrapped in the vehicle, said Coroner Baker.

The collision is being investigated by the South Carolina Highway Patrol and the Sumter County Coroner’s Office.
