Four homes destroyed after afternoon subdivision fire, say firefighters

Columbia-Richland firefighters say four homes are destroyed after an afternoon subdivision fire.

RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– An afternoon fire in the Bowden Village subdivision off of Trotter Road has left four homes damaged and 7 people displaced, said the fire department.

Columbia-Richland Fire Department responded to the neighborhood at Sandbach Road and Elmridge Road after 4 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 26.

Officials said one home on Sandbach was heavily involved with fire and it was quickly spreading to other properties and the grass surrounding them.

Firefighters were able to contain the fire and rescue two dogs from one home. All residents of the homes damaged were reported as not injured.

Firefighters said one home was left unlivable and three other properties suffered exposure damages.

The cause of the fire will be investigated by the Richland County Fire Marshals Office.
