U.S. Marshals arrest man accused of sex crimes involving children

Lexington, SC (WOLO ) — The U.S. Marshals Carolinas Regional Task Force says a Child Sexual predator is off the street tonight. U.S. Lexington Police and the Fairfield County Sheriff’s Department were able to track down and arrest 27 year old Taz Michael Johnson Wednesday.  Officials say he was wanted for Sexual Exploitation of a Minor, Criminal Solicitation of a Child and two counts of Unlawful Dissemination of Obscene Material to a Child.

According to authorities, Johnson is a prior sex offender who was arrested back in 2019 after being prosecuted for Sexual Misconduct with a Minor. Officials tell us Johnson who was wanted by Lexington Police, left the area, and was laying low in the Winnsboro area. The joint law enforcement agencies say when they reduced the proximity of where they were searching, they discovered Johnson was renting a room at the Winnsboro Motor Inn Motel.

Authorities say he was arrested on site and taken to the Fairfield County Detention Center.
