Columbia police arrest man accused of shooting victim’s car

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– A man is arrested after Columbia Police say he attempted to steal items and shot into someone’s car.
Columbia Police Department officers say Jonathan Rutherford and an unidentified accomplice are accused of trying to steal items from a victim’s property on Ulmer Rd on Wednesday, Feb. 8.
The victim told investigators that the victim fought with one of the suspects before they drove away.
Investigators say the victim then followed the suspects along Leesburg Rd and that is when Rutherford allegedly shot at the victim’s vehicle.
Broken glass injured the victim’s face when a bullet struck the windshield. No other injuries were reported and another arrest is pending.
Rutherford was arrested on Friday, March 1 and charged with attempted murder and auto-breaking.
