Man Shot to Death During Attempted Robbery

armed-robbery222.jpgCOLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) – A 33-year-old man was killed during an attempted armed robbery in Columbia after midnight Sunday.

Columbia Police Department officers said Timothy Callahan, of Columbia, died at the hospital. He was shot in the upper and lower body. Several people on the scene rendered aid to Callahan until EMS arrived.

According to witnesses, a black man wearing dark clothing shot Callahan after demanding his vehicle.  After the shooting, the suspect ran from the scene.

CPD investigators are gathering information from possible witnesses and collecting evidence from the scene.
