Charges Dropped Against Gamecock Punter Sean Kelly
COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) — According to the Lourie Law Firm, the charge of Malicious Injury to Property was dismissed Wednesday morning at the City of Columbia Municipal Court.
The attorneys representing Kelly say the Carolina punter has accepted PTI on the Public Disorderly Conduct charge.
Kelly was arrested and charged with public disorderly conduct and malicious injury to tree, house and trespass upon real property with an injury value of $2,000 or less, according to South Carolina Judicial Department records. He posted a personal recognizance bond on Aug. 12.
“I’m extremely sorry for my behavior,” Kelly said in a statement through his attorneys. “I know that I will have to work hard to regain the trust of my coaches, teammates, and Gamecock nation. I am committed to this task.”
Kelly transferred to USC before last season and became the starting punter in 2015 for the Gamecocks.
Will Muschamp has said they’ll handle the matter internally and Kelly won’t miss any playing time.
