Dragging Dog Death Arrest

ABC COLUMBIA (WOLO)-  Calhoun County Deputies have arrested a woman accused in a deadly case of animal cruelty.

Calhoun County deputies say 66 year old Rita Mintz was arrested Wednesday and charged with ill treatment of animals after tips from the community led to the suspect officials say admitted to being responsible for accident.

Authorities say last Friday Mintz  held a rope out of the window of her car that was attached to the dog’s neck and pulled it alongside her until the animal couldn’t keep up. Authorities say the German Shepard left a trail of blood along Kennerly Street before it died from injuries.

Mintz is currently out of jail on a 5 thousand dollar bond.
