Wolman dies in fire in Gaston

GASTON, S.C. (AP) — Lexington County officials say a woman has died in a fire at her home.

The coroner’s office says 84-year-old Helen G. Eaglin of Gaston died in the fire shortly after 1:30 a.m. Monday.

Neighbors tried to use a garden hose to fight the flames before firefighters arrived. They were not able to get to the victim.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
