Trump sues ABC News and George Stephanopoulos for defamation over Nancy Mace interview

(CNN)– Former President Donald Trump is suing ABC News and Anchor George Stephanopoulos for defamation.

The suit is over a recent interview Stephanopoulos had with South Carolina Congresswoman and Trump supporter Nancy Mace. Mace is a rape survivor.

Stephanopoulos asked her how she could justify endorsing Trump after a jury found he sexually abused writer E.Jean Carroll in 1996.

The jury found Trump had sexually abused her sufficient to hold him liable for battery but did not find she proved he had raped her.

However, the judge in the case concluded that the claim Trump raped Carroll was “substantially true”.

Mace defended her support for Trump by noting it was a civil case, not criminal.
