DSS: Richland County woman charged with food stamp fraud

RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– A Richland County woman has been charged in connection with food stamp fraud, said DSS.

On March 20, special agents with the South Carolina Department of Social Services and the Office of Inspector General arrested a Richland County woman in connection with fraudulently receiving $30,314.00 in Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits.

Shakeerah Renee Washington, age 35, was charged with one count of fraudulent acquisition or use of food stamps with a value more than $10,000 and two counts of forgery, less than $10,000.

Washington was booked at the Richland County Detention Center.
