United Airlines announces program that allows people to pool, share miles

(CNN)– United Airlines recently announced a new miles-pooling program called mileage-plus.

It allows flyers to rack up and share miles with other frequent flyer program members.

Up to five people can share redeemable miles and put the total toward the price of a reward ticket.

One milage-plus member can become a group leader and invite up to four other members.

United also announced a new feature in its mobile app that allowed flyers to set seating preferences like aisle, window or middle seat.

The airline will automatically change a flyer’s seat if their preferred seat type becomes available up to 12 hours before the flight’s departure.
