Keenan High School student arrested following assault in classroom, deputies say

RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– A Keenan High School student was arrested for assaulting a classmate on Tuesday, March 26, says RCSD.
Richland County deputies say Christopher Jones is being charged as an adult with assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature.
RCSD says SROs were made aware of an assault occurring in a classroom between Christopher Jones and a 15-year-old victim by school staff around 11 a.m.
When deputies arrived to the classroom, they were able to remove Jones from the classroom and gain control of the situation.Â
All of the students in the classroom except for the student who Jones assaulted was removed from the classroom.
The victim was looked after by a school nurse before EMS took the victim to a local hospital to be treated for injuries.
Deputies say they learned that Jones had assaulted the victim by punching him several times after a brief verbal dispute.
He was booked into the juvenile wing of Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center without further incident.
