Newberry Co. addresses concerns regarding squatters
Newberry County, SC (WOLO) — Newberry Deputies say they’ve been getting numerous calls regarding squatters, but they’re assuring homeowners that they have nothing to worry about.
In South Carolina if you came home and someone was in your property without your permission, they would be dealt with according with the laws and would be sent to jail. The Newberry County Sheriff’s Office says the only way someone can stay in a property is with permission of the property owner or the legal resident.
If they outstayed their welcome or did not live up to the conditions of residency, then proper process must be taken, like a writ of eviction or a notice to quit.
