Pet of the Week: Darlene!

COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO)- Meet Darlene! This 8-month-old puppy had a rough start to life, but she hasn’t let it stop her! This girl is all love.

Darlene came to Columbia Animal Services at the end of February with a severely embedded collar. She needed surgical removal. Despite her injury and obvious discomfort, Darlene has been nothing but sweet and loving.

Darlene spent some time in a foster home while she healed and did amazing. Her foster says she loves toys and playing tug, is dog friendly, and submissive in her play style. She doesn’t seem to mind cats either! She is crate trained, nearly house-trained, is very treat motivated, and eager to learn. She already knows how to sit too!

Since her surgery, Darlene’s injury has healed beautifully! Shelter staff recommend only using a harness on walks for a little longer to ensure it continues to heal properly. Now she’s ready to find her forever home. Shelter staff always recommend bringing in your furry friends or kids for a meet and greet to ensure a successful adoption.

Now until April 8th, the shelter is holding their March Madness adoption special! All adoption fees are waived. Each pet comes spayed/neutered, up to date on vaccinations, and on flea/heartworm preventative.

Visit the shelter at 127 Humane Lane, Columbia, SC 29209 to bring Darlene home today!
