COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– Co-author and journalist Neil Gordon who worked with former Colleton County Clerk of Court Becky Hill to publish a book about Alex Murdaugh’s murder trial says his share of the proceeds from the book sales will be going to charities in the Lowcountry.

Gordon says he has now donated the proceeds from the continued book sales to foundations in memory of Stephen Smith, whose death was given renewed attention following the Murdaugh murders.

Also he says some of the profits were donated to the Gloria Satterfield foundation who was the Murdaugh’s former housekeeper.

Gordon and Colleton County Clerk of Court Becky Hill wrote “Behind the Doors of Justice” which was pulled from shelves but was still available on Amazon for several months after Hill admitted to plagiarism.

Hill is currently under investigation by the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division for allegedly using her former position as a clerk to promote her book.
