Lee County Correctional Riot inmate to go on trial

LEE COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– One of the inmates involved in the deadly Lee County Correctional Riot is about to go on trial.

Jury selection and pre-trial motions for Stephen Green are set to start today at the Lee County Courthouse.

In April of 2018, seven inmates were killed in a riot that investigators say started after illegal cellphones were brought into the prison.

Green is being tried for several charges including 1st degree assault and battery by mob.

29 people have been indicted since the incident.
