Police: Woman, unborn baby killed in accident with patrol car during chase

Columbia, S.C. (WOLO)– In a Tuesday afternoon news conference, Columbia Police announced Ashley Brown, 35, was killed in an accident with a patrol car Monday afternoon.

Police say the chase began after a fatal shooting at JT’s Kia on Greystone Blvd.

Investigators say the collision took place at the corner of N. Main St. and Prescott Ave.

According to police the SC Highway Patrol is investigating the accident.

Police say the suspect in the chase, Westley Gross, 29, ultimately crashed into the backyard of a home on Shady Ln.

According to investigators he had two guns on him at the time of his arrest.

The Richland Co. Coroner’s Office confirms the victim in the shooting at the dealership, Graham Pope, 39, ultimately died from his injuries.
