Unpaid parking fees is climbing up in Columbia

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– The number of unpaid parking fees in Columbia is climbing as parking services are turning to new ways to encourage offenders to settle up.
And they are making good progress. According to the Deputy Director of Parking Services Tori Salvant from January to date over 560 thousand dollars has been collected in fees.
Still officials say there is still an enormous amount of unpaid fees.
She says while there are many unpaid fines from motorist here at home, a number of citations are on vehicles from out of state which takes more time to retrieve the owners information.
