Grandmother, 3-year-old grandson dead after Saturday house fire

 

ORANGEBURG, S.C. (WOLO)– A grandmother and her 3-year-old grandson died in a house fire on Saturday, says the Orangeburg County Coroner’s Office.

The Orangeburg County Coroner says Shona Clark and her grandson Ky’mere Shivers were rescued from the house fire on Sharperson Street.

But they later died at the hospital on Monday due to their injuries.

The Times and Democrat reports that investigators found the electrical arcing of an extension cord in the living room which caused the fire.

The American Red Cross is helping the rest of the family that has been left displaced after the fire.
