Coroner identifies person dead after motorcycle vs vehicle collision

LEXINGTON COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher has identified the person who died after a motorcycle vs vehicle collision on Friday.

The coroner’s office says the collision happened around 8:30 p.m. at Juniper Springs Road near Wire Road in the Gilbert area of Lexington County on Friday, April 26.

According to Coroner Fisher, Christopher Lee Wingard, 39, of Leesville was traveling southbound on Juniper Springs Road when he stopped in the roadway.

An SUV also traveling southbound hit the rear of the motorcycle.

Wingard was taken to a nearby hospital where he was later pronounced dead due to injuries sustained in the collision.

The Lexington County Coroner’s Office and South Carolina Highway Patrol are continuing to investigate the incident.
